Pete Davidson Cut ‘SNL’ Sketch About His and Ariana Grande’s Breakup After Her Tweet

Ariana Grande’s tweet not-so subtly condemning Pete Davidson’s decision to make fun of their engagement in the promo for this week’s Saturday Night Live has already changed the show that will broadcast Saturday. TMZ is reporting that Davidson had written a sketch for the episode and decided, after learning Grande was upset, that he “didn’t want to go through with” it, per sources close to the former couple.

Grande and Davidson had an agreement after their split, the sources told TMZ, to stay silent about their breakup. Grande was upset when she learned that Davidson referenced it during a comedy set, and his doing so again in the SNL promo was apparently her tipping point—hence the posted and deleted tweet calling him out. “She wasn’t amused by Pete’s jokes at all,” a source told E! News. “They made an agreement that they would not address their relationship or discuss it after they split up. He violated that agreement and it really hurt her. She knew he would see her tweet.”

Davidson’s boss, executive producer Lorne Michaels, is said to have “signed off” on Davidson’s axing the sketch. So expect a relatively drama-free SNL, with any luck.
