[productsample] Who knew Saira Khan had a skin care range? Not me, that’s for sure. You will probably remember Saira originally from The Apprentice where she was runner up, but has gone on to be a Loose Woman as well as a Dancing On Ice contestant and several presenting jobs. I’m a Dancing On Ice fan – it’s just the right time on a Sunday to wind down and watch people blossom from being Bambi on ice into people who can actually skate and dance at the same time!
Saira Skin
When I first saw her products, I immediately thought they should be on QVC – sure enough, they already are. There are literally only two products which is refreshing – you certainly won’t get into a quandry on the website because it’s an oil and a mask and that’s it. Facial oils with a point of difference are hard to come by – there are a lot of very generic skin oils on the market at the moment with the same basic recipe. It doesn’t mean they’re not good for skin because they are if you can tolerate an oil, but what I like about Saira Skin Hydrating Oil (£52) is that it incorporates Himalayan fruits – mulberry, fig and pomegranate (which I suspect don’t grow in the actual Himalayas but the countries that surround the mountain range). I don’t think I’ve come across an oil with mulberry before and fig is quite unusual. Given that it’s a 19 ingredient blend, it’s remarkably light on the complexion in texture. It’s quite strong in fragrance – a sort of earthy, exotic, essential oil smell – initially, but either I got used to it very quickly or it just evaporated away quite fast.

The Exfoliating Mask (£37) is oil to milk – again very pungent (in a good way; kind of a clove backdrop) – with sugar to exfoliate and almost as many oils as the facial oil. You can either do a quick exfoliation and massage, or let it stay on your skin for five minutes or so for extra replenishment. Both products are completely organic, Soil Association approved, suitable for Halal or Vegan.
I can’t really fault the formulas of either product in terms of delivering soft and hydrated feeling skin – if you love oils and have a particular interest in organic, then I’d highly recommend both. However, they are strong in smell so please do check the ingredient listing for essential oils that you might not like. I’ve got a code for 10% off – use WEB1 at checkout HERE. My one thing is that it doesn’t feel very personal to Saira – I’d have liked to see a lot more of her (big) personality on the Saira Skin website. As it is, there’s an old picture of her and then after that it’s all very generic – anyone could have written it. It needs a revamp that gives it more authenticity.
