[productsample/affiliate] If you read BBB regularly you might have spotted that my daughter, Lucy, has terribly, terribly sensitive skin. She tends to stick religiously to Avene to cleanse and moisturise but has been testing out this new collection from La Roche-Posay. It’s a big ask of someone with reactive skin to change up a tried and tested routine – if it all goes wrong the result is a week or more of a red and angry complexion. She has used La Roche Posay before but not for some considerable time.
La Roche-Posay Toleriane is billed as a range for sensitive skin anyway so we are getting some very mixed messaging from the brand. Calling your new collection ‘sensitive’ when the entire range is for sensitive skin doesn’t make sense to me. The difference, as far as I can tell, is that ‘Sensitive’ has jumped on the microbiome bandwagon with a prebiotic complex. However, since Lucy has had no adverse reaction to this or the heavier version, Riche, then perhaps the why and what doesn’t matter at all. In fact, the range is proving to be very effective at moisturising on a day to day basis without causing any irritation, but not so good at long term hydration. So, if she uses it every day, her skin is fine, but miss it out just once and dryness is almost immediate. That said, this has no alcohol in it, which I think is proving to be the most useful thing in keeping her skin in good balance, and perhaps the anti-inflammatory Niacinamide. They’re surprisingly rich for such a high water content (from the thermal spring water – where the prebiotics come from) She’s been using it for at least three weeks – perhaps more – and it’s impossible to tell if the prebiotics make any difference. However, the joy is that she now has more choices in what she can safely use and it’s an affordable range with Fluide at £15 and Riche at £16 HERE. Non Affiliate HERE.
I still have questions about this Sensitive range – La Roche Posay has always used their thermal spring water as a main ingredient, so presumably it must have always had prebiotics in it. And yet this range is new because of them? Answer me this!
