Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus, Hollywood’s Cutest Couple™, are officially married and have thus realigned the space-time continuum and chakras all over the globe (not to be dramatic). And as if their spur-the-moment living room wedding ceremony wasn’t enough cuteness overload, Hemsworth is now divulging the details of how he knew it was time to take Cyrus from girlfriend to fiancée.
“We’ve been through so much together over the last 10 years, so [I] felt like it was time,” Hemsworth said in an interview with Today (which airs this Sunday). He added that he, “feels really happy and really fortunate to be with such a great person.”
During the interview, Hemsworth also revealed that he almost wasn’t cast alongside his wife in their iconic romantic drama The Last Song—where he and Cyrus met.
“That was the first job I got [in the U.S.], and it was literally right at the end of my three-month visa,” Hemsworth (Australian) explained. “They cast another kid, and it didn’t work out with him.”
He continued, “My agent calls me like, whispering, like ‘You’ve got to go to Disney right now. It’s not working out with the other guy. You’ve got to go in and read with Miley again’…I come in and everyone starts clapping like, ‘We should have gone with you first!’”
It’s hard to imagine watching Roni fall in love with anyone other than Liam Hemsworth’s portrayal of Will Blakelee in The Last Song, but the true tragedy would have been if Hemsworth and Cyrus never met.
