Paul & Joe Beaute Spring 2019

Paul & Joe Beaute Spring 2019

This season, Paul & Joe is all about flower shops and the bright blooms of spring. It’s quite a Japanese thing, I think, to revere Paris, so their inspiration hails from the floristry boutiques of that city. In fact, while I was in Tokyo, we went to a place where the entire street was a replication of a Paris boulevard right down to a Paul’s bakery selling macaron and filled baguettes, multiple bistros, and outdoor piped French music – it was odd to say the least. As usual, the Paul & Joe offerings are super-pretty – the ribbons you see are elasticated at the back and you use them to keep the lids secure.

I’m kicking off with Fleurs Passions, above, with a gold/green hue, shimmering orange and a silver shot yellow. You know who this palette makes me think of? Kim-Joy from Bake-Off if you saw it. She’d love this! I’ll say ahead that I haven’t swatched any of the eye colours – I need a while longer to look at them.

This one is Floral Shoppe – a blend of gold hit orange, a vivid red and a vibrant pink (also… out of focus.. so sorry!).

Finally, Artisan Fleuriste, housing a sliver shimmer light blue, a deep violet and a beige shot with gold and red shimmer. The shimmers, by the way, are very lightly so – and although they sound multi-effect, I think you would be pushed to see individual glimmer shades on the eye. But, they’re prettily sparkling without being overtly glittery. They’re £19 each HERE.

The new lipstick cases follow the same patterned theme (you buy the cases and the lipsticks separately) although the lip colours are all following a pink theme.

Shades from left to right are: 114 Cala Lily, 113 Cymbidium, 111 Amarylis and 115 Tulipe.

They’re swatched in the same order from bottom to top. The lipstick cases are £7 each HERE and the lipsticks, £14 HERE. One of the things I love about Paul & Joe lipstick is the creamy texture – they’re almost like balms and yet deliver the right amount of colour without being extreme. Personally, I veer more towards corals than pinks but these are so juicy and tempting I might just be swayed.
