Ashley & Co Soaps

As promised, a couple of other fragrances from Ashley & Co in the form of their soaps which I am already very taken with. They’re called ‘Mini Bars’ for a reason – they’re not exactly miniatures but they are much smaller and tidier than your average soap but they’re proper, solid ‘blocks’.

The cleansing bars come wrapped in light card (recyclable and biodegradable as well as using pulp from managed forests) and the tap opener, when pulled, reveals the brand’s watchwords: Enhance Your Everyday. It’s this kind of attention to detail that’s making me swoon over this New Zealand based brand.

The Bubbles & Polkadots fragrance that I’d been dying to smell doesn’t disappoint but it is light. It’s a blend of rose otto, musk, amber, bergamot and chamomile but I have to admit that what I get is a milky rose scent just tipped with amber.

You can see that the soaps contain both manuka honey and goat’s milk so it’s a very smooth blend. Personally, I don’t think they’re as lathery as more commercial soaps but they’re gentle and creamy so no complaints here. In fact, I’ve only dived into one of them so far but I can’t see why there would be a difference in the other. Vine & Paisley is less perfumed than Bubbles & Polkadots – in theory it’s vanilla, balsam and sandalwood but to my nose, it’s a milky sandalwood. Vine & Paisley didn’t leave a fragrance trail on my skin – which is good or bad depending upon how you look at it – but I did find that it was skin softening.

The Wash Up Liquid Soap, which I thought (incorrectly) was washing up liquid (and am slightly disappointed not to have a boost to that most tedious of chores) is more generously fragranced but not as power packed as the candles. My sample is in the Tui & Kahili fragrance, as is the candle that I’m so smitten by, and it’s just a lovely, sumptuous, semi-tropical, semi-floral fragrance that I’m happy to wash my hands or anywhere else in any time you like!

The Mini Bars are £9 each HERE and the Wash Up hand soap is £24 HERE.
