At first, I was completely horrified at how much this 40ml tube is – £46. That seems an awful lot for a day cream and not very much of it at that. However, I’ve slightly changed my mind because I’m reminded how difficult it is to find a very decent shielding moisturiser that sits well under make up and this is one that one certainly does. It’s a very light and silky cream given its SPF30 status that feels naturally very comfortable and weightless. I’ve had no interference in the form of squirls using either my bareMinerals Complexion Rescue or heavier foundations and that’s a huge bonus.
Given how light and weightless it is the moisturising results are good – my skin felt flexible, soft and hydrated all day and although I’m slightly sceptical still about screen time affecting skin, I’m at my laptop day in, day out and Daily Defence indicates that it protects from that. So, I still think it’s pricey for the amount, but I’ve enjoyed using it, am impressed with the texture and the SPF combination that makes shielding from the sun easy, and don’t have any complaints about the hydrating effect. The only thing I don’t feel sure on is that the packaging, under the product name, says ‘high protection sunscreen’ which to me implies beach and heavy sun and I wouldn’t use this as a sunbathing product but more as a day to day incidental exposure shield.
