Kate Middleton and Prince William have just arrived at Evelina London Children’s Hospital, following Kensington Palace’s announcement that Kate has been named patron of the hospital. Kate wore a green polka dot LK Bennett dress for her visit, another festive ensemble following Kate’s Emilia Wickstead red and green tartan skirt that she wore to the Christmas party she and William threw at Kensington Palace last week for RAF families.

During the couple’s visit, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will “learn more about how the hospital supports children and their families, and the specialist services provided to children with rare and complex conditions,” the Palace wrote in its announcement of Kate’s patronage. They’ll also participate in some Christmas-themed activities before they move on to their second engagement today: visiting The Passage, a homeless resource center where they’ll hear from workers about the challenges facing homeless people in the city and join those there for a Christmas party and arts and craft workshop.

Kate’s position as patron of Evelina London will give her the “opportunity to champion the medical professionals working on the front-line in children’s healthcare, and shine a light on their work supporting children in their early years,” the Palace said.

Marian Ridley, the director of Evelina London, said in the Palace’s statement that “we are absolutely delighted and deeply honored The Duchess of Cambridge has chosen to become our Patron. The Duchess shares our passion for giving children and young people the very best start in life and Her Royal Highness’ support will help champion the life-saving care our staff are providing to our patients.” The hospital will celebrate its 150th anniversary next year.
