Clinique has approached ‘shaping’ from a different angle to the usual shaping lipsticks by suggesting that the core of peptides will, over time, make lips more defined and smooth. Define ‘defined’ Clinique! If by defined they mean a sharper lip line, I can’t think of how many years would pass before this could happen, but if they just mean smoother (not the same thing), then absolutely it’s going to happen, not least because the formula contains optical spheres that do give a nicely polished finish.

Semantics aside, I absolutely love these. They have a low sheen finish, feel light and moisturising on the lip and the shades are so easy to wear. Clinique hasn’t pigment packed these so that your siren light goes on the moment you apply – possibly the inner core dilutes the pigment around it – and unlike some matte colours, your lips don’t feel constricted or coated. I know mattes have got much more refined in formula so that they’re don’t give that dried, cat’s bum look to lips but even so, often after the moisture has evaporated, lips can start to feel dry. I haven’t found that with this formula that gave a continuous flexibility throughout the day.

Shades from bottom to top are: Passionately, Romanticize, Berry Freeze, Canoodle, Cranberry Ice and A Different Grape. There are 30 shades in store and an extra 20 on-line HERE. At £20.50, I think they’re good value and I feel you will notice a difference in lip moisture levels so if you’re a dry-lip sufferer (like me), definitely worth a try.
