I look forward to the accessories of a fragrance almost more than the fragrance itself. I’ve got a big bottle of Chanel No.5 Bath & Shower Foam on the side of my bath and I just like to look at. I’ve noticed that it’s going down by small amounts every so often and I rarely use it (it one of those ridiculous ‘saving it for best’ thought processes) and everyone has saucer eyes when I ask who’s used it. Gabrielle isn’t my favourite Chanel fragrance – I like almost all the others but this is just not for me. But, it’s a somewhat different thing to have a transient dip or shower in it than to commit to a full spritz. There’s something of a soapy, clean smell to it as well which cuts through the solar parts of Gabrielle that I didn’t like in the first place.

Naturally, there’s a body lotion too (and a deodorant) so you can layer your scent if you wish. I think Chanel body lotions perform better usually than other brand ancillaries – they do actually moisturise while leaving a light fragrance trail. It’s an emulsion that sinks in quickly and easily.
Gabrielle Chanel Foaming Shower Gel
If you love the Gabrielle fragrance then you’ll love these too – although it’s billed as a shower gel, I used mine as a bath foam and while it’s perhaps not quite as generous in bubbles, it does just as well. The Gel is £42, the Lotion is £48 and the Deodorant is £38. It’s launching tomorrow (today if you get my subscription email).
