Luke Perry Died From Stroke at 52

Beverly Hills, 90210 and Riverdale actor Luke Perry has passed away at the age of 52, TMZ and Buzzfeed are reporting. TMZ was the first to report the news, writing Perry died Monday morning after suffering a “massive stroke” last week. His reps told the outlet that Perry was “surrounded by his children Jack and Sophie, fiancée Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, and other close family and friends,” when it happened.

In the statement his rep sent to Buzzfeed News, the rep added that “the family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning.”

Perry suffered a stroke last Wednesday at his home. Reps told the outlet that doctors initially sedated him, “hoping to give his brain a fighting chance to recover from the trauma of the stroke.” Unfortunately, it was not enough.

Perry had an over 30 year career that started in the ’80s. One of his most iconic roles was Beverly Hills, 90210’s leading heartthrob Dylan McKay. More recently, Perry had been playing Fred Andrews, Archie Andrews’s dad, on Riverdale.
