Where was Lori Loughlin’s daughter Olivia Jade Giannulli when news broke that her parents were indicted for allegedly paying $500,o00 to make it appear that she had been a rower to guarantee her admission to the University of Southern California? Apparently on a billionaire’s yacht who also happens to be the chairman of USC’s Board of Trustees, TMZ is reporting.
TMZ found out that Olivia was on Rick Caruso’s yacht in the Bahamas with the chairman’s daughter Gianna and several friends for their spring break. Olivia and Gianna, per TMZ, have been friends for a while now and have posted photos of each other on their Instagrams.
Rick confirmed the news to TMZ himself and told the outlet that Olivia Jade did return to California after the scandal became public. “My daughter and a group of students left for spring break prior to the government’s announcement yesterday,” he said. “Once we became aware of the investigation, the young woman decided it would be in her best interests to return home.”
Rick does not have control over whether or not Olivia Jade will get to remain a student at USC or any of the other students involved. The university president will make that decision, TMZ reports.
USC officials told Buzzfeed that they’re going to look at each student’s case individually before deciding whether to revoke their admission to the university or let them remain there. They will conduct a “case-by-case review of current students and graduates that may be connected to the scheme alleged by the government.”
“We will make informed, appropriate decisions once those reviews have been completed,” Leigh Hopper, a USC spokesperson, told the outlet. “Some of these individuals may have been minors at the time of their application process.”
