Captain Marvel Brie Larson Hair Style

Over the weekend, Captain Marvel debuted to the tune of $455 million. It has all the best parts of a superhero origin movie—fight scenes, killer costumes, humor, and plot twists—and a powerful female protagonist. Another striking part of the movie? Brie Larson’s hair. It was a perfectly tousled lob and always looked blowout-fresh even during fight scenes or tucked beneath a baseball cap.

As I watched I kept wondering: What hair spray is Carol Danvers using? Are there heat tools on Kree? Or, does good hair just come with being arguably the most powerful Avenger to exist? Turns out, others were wondering the same things.

Fans tweeted endless praise for Captain Marvel’s hair style:

Others marveled at Captain Marvel’s ability to maintain her hair style even through all her superhero action. They asked important questions like WHERE is her hair tie?

Meanwhile, the infamous helmet mohawk had people divided.

One movie-goer observed that Captain Marvel’s loose waves appeal to present-day tastes, but not the ’90s.

That “extremely dreamy” hair is the work of the hair department head Camille Friend, whose work you’ve also seen in Black Panther and Guardians of the Galaxy.

“We decided to put her in a lace-front wig for the role that basically matched her natural hair,” Friend told Refinery 29. “We use a lot of wigs in the Marvel world, because they’re easier to work with and there are double or triple stunt people on set who have to look very much like the actor.”

The blonde ombré color is thanks to movie’s wig maker Natascha Ladek. According to Friend, the hair is supposed to look modern, because “we wanted to find something that was from that period, but still stood the test of time.” Inspirations included musicians Stevie Nicks and Chrissie Hynde.

Just look at the epic way the hair flips—with purpose!—in this trailer:

Even out of character, Larson’s been keeping up beautifully lived-in S-waves all throughout Captain Marvel press junkets and awards season. That’s the work of celebrity hair stylist Bryce Scarlett.

Scarlett, who also works with Margot Robbie and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, has been using the Moroccanoil Titanium Ceramic Hairstyling Iron on Larson to get the look.

Who knows whether or not heat tools exist on Kree, but thank goodness they’re here on Earth.
