Atelier Cologne Pacific Lime Cologne Absolue

[productsample] You have to know your perfumes, I think, to find your way around the terminology – I bet most people don’t even think of the difference between EDT and EDP for example. So, cologne absolue is another to add to the mix and to be honest, I am not sure I quite know what it is myself. I think it is more perfume than cologne so you lose the kind of alcohol elements from the cologne in favour of more fragrance notes.

However, what I can tell you is that Pacific Lime is such a burst of summer that I feel a bit addicted to it already. It’s right up my street in fragrance terms. The clue is in the name, obviously, but at first spritz I could swear that I smelled pineapple! In fact, it’s lime with coconut (and coconut and pineapple are so often fragrance bedfellows so perhaps my nose went down the pina colada route). Add some lemon notes, a dash of spearmint and pinch of eucalyptus and you have a fresh, tropical, happy fragrance that doesn’t rely on sugar as it’s selling point making it neither too feminine or too masculine. It’s at the perfect olfactory tipping point to suit everyone. Just add white linen shirts, a turquoise ocean and some sand between your toes.

It’s launching this month at Selfridges as an exclusive – prices start at £95.
