Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez got engaged last weekend, and Lopez has the big diamond (worth close to $2 million) to prove it. The couple, who have been together for more than two years, got engaged at Baker’s Bay, an exclusive island in the Bahamas, where they first went on vacation together. This beautiful engagement all started two years ago with some very simple advice that Rodriguez got from a friend.
“Whatever you do, you cannot mess her around,” the friend said, per Page Six. “I said, ‘This lady is like American royalty. Whatever happens, you cannot treat her badly. If you split up for any reason, she has to be the one to dump your ass!’ It’s a lot of pressure on someone to date Jennifer Lopez! But they both fell in love.”
The proposal, which Page Six reports Rodriguez planned on his own, was extremely Instagram worthy, as was the bling that Lopez now carries around on her left ring finger.
After the engagement, ex-Yankee José Canseco accused Rodriguez of cheating on Lopez with his ex-wife, Jessica, but soon after Jessica refuted those claims.
