9 Travel-Sized Essentials You Need to Pack

Samantha Brown

Many people consider themselves well traveled—once a quarter jaunts to Mexico or the Caribbean litter their Instagram feeds—and while great, there’s an elite group of travelers among us. These folks know how to pack for a 10-day trip in a carry on suitcase, have thick passports full of stamps, and, most impressively, know how to get through TSA with their beauty products in tact.

Samantha Brown squarely falls into the latter group—she’s been to nearly 70 countries and was one of the first women to host a show on the Travel Channel. She’s currently the executive producer of the PBS series Samantha Brown’s Places to Love. “When I started, there weren’t any women in the field, and I had never traveled internationally, but when you really love something keep at it,” she tells ELLE.com.

While most of us have had our share of horror stories with TSA, Brown has not. “I really love beauty products, but I’m always looking to pare down when I travel because there’s only so much you can bring,” she says.

The trick? Bring products that don’t count against your liquids and samples—lots of them. “Instead of bringing serums and moisturizers, pack five sheet masks that can act as both—and that frees up a lot of space,” she suggests. Keep scrolling to see the nine products Brown never leaves the country without.
