Why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are Reportedly Planning to Send Their Future Child to an American School

It’s still a secret as far as whether Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are having a royal boy or girl, but what’s certain is that their future child will have a blended heritage. Given Prince Harry is, you know, a prince, their son or daughter will grow up as a royal in England. But where does that leave Meghan’s American background? Apparently, it will likely come into play when it comes to their plans for education.

While Kensington Palace has yet to release an official comment on the matter, a report from E! suggests that Harry and Meghan’s future child will attend a school in Britain with an American curriculum. Per the outlet’s source, the couple is “thought to want a more diverse education for their child,” and apparently Meghan is “keen for her child to be fully aware of his or her American heritage.”

A report from The Sunday Times even speculates the specific school. Designer Misha Nonoo is thought to have introduced Harry to Meghan, and she attended the sister school of ACS Egham International in Surrey. The school is close enough to the home where the two plan to raise their child—Frogmore Cottage—so it’s a safe guess. As far as other schools where American curriculums are offered, there’s also the American School in London, which would put their child close to the royal happenings at Kensington Palace should Harry and Meghan ever choose to move back there (they currently live in Nottingham Cottage on the Kensington Palace grounds, but their new home is in Windsor).
