Prince William and Prince Harry are Reportedly Set to Split Their Royal Household

Prince Harry and Prince William have chosen to separate their royal household in the coming weeks, the Sunday Times is reporting.

The royal brothers are expected to make a formal split of their royal household in order to introduce separate courts ahead of the birth of Prince Harry’s child—his wife Meghan Markle is due this spring. The Times claims that a written and formal separation of house, which includes a separation of staff, comes as result of Prince Harry and Prince William’s increasingly different responsibilities as royals. The outlet also suggests the split could “help ease the reported tensions between the brothers and their wives,”—although this is merely speculation.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been living at Nottingham Cottage on the Kensington Palace grounds—where Kate Middleton and Prince William live with their three children. But it’s been known for some time now that the two have plans to move into Frogmore Cottage, away from all of the royal comings and goings at Kensington.

Meghan and Harry are currently renovating Frogmore Cottage, which previously served as housing to palace workers and was comprised of several different living units. The separate units are being rejoined into one large home for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (and their baby).

In total, the royal couple is estimated to spending $3.8 million updating the dated home in Windsor, which served as the site of their wedding reception back in May 2018. Aside from the initial knocking-down of walls to rejoin the separate units within the home, Harry and Meghan are also understood to be adding a green energy unit for heating and water purposes, multiple fireplaces, and multiple staircases.

At 10 total bedrooms once the five separate units are combined together, Frogmore Cottage will offer Harry, Meghan, and their future child (children?) plenty more space than they had at Nottingham Cottage—which sits at two bedrooms.
