Max Factor Rise & Shine Mascara
[productsample] If I had a red X buzzer button, I’d be pressing it hard for the Max Factor Rise & Shine Mascara because it just isn’t living up to expectations at all. I know that it’s hard to formulate a really decent mascara these days as all the patents for the good ones are locked down so hard you’ve got a better chance of getting into Fort Knox – but still. Varying wand shape is a way to make things look a bit more interesting, as is being more creative with fragrance. Actually that’s the one thing that is impressive about this mascara – its cucumber scent that really does smell fresh and pleasant.
Otherwise, I found it impossible to get the fatness of the brush under my lashes to draw up and through and the dip in the middle – what is it for? It certainly didn’t help with application. When I compare it to Bad Gal or my favourite Guerlain mascara – the brush combs and lifts so I get a nice, even, separated lash line in a single stroke. It’s then up to me if I want to go more full on with extra strokes. With Max Factor Rise & Shine Mascara, my lashes didn’t gain any length or separation, just a kind of clumpy line of black lash stumps. Other than the scent, I can’t find a single thing that’s great about this. It’s launching next month for £12.99.
