Turns out Jennifer Lawrence really was hiding her giant diamond engagement ring during her first appearance post-engagement. The actress was photographed out in New York City last night having dinner with friends at ABC Cocina, where it was caught clearly on camera for the first time. It is very big—true to the description Page Six was given by an eyewitness when the outlet broke the news of J.Law’s engagement.
Page Six was told by its source that Lawrence’s ring “was a giant rock. They [Lawrence and her fiancé Cooke Maroney] seemed like they were celebrating and people were talking about it. The ring was very noticeable. They were sitting back in a corner. She was wearing a cute black dress with white polka dots.” Maroney and Lawrence have been dating since June 2018.
A very blurry image of the ring was taken that night, after Lawrence was leaving dinner. But when Lawrence stepped out the day after her engagement news broke, she seemingly hid the diamond—either by wearing a different ring or turning her actual ring around so she could hide the stone in her palm. Lawrence was out with Maroney at Il Buco Italian and didn’t really seem to want to be photographed.
The photo of Lawrence in New York City yesterday suggests she may not be at the Oscars this weekend, given that events are starting in Los Angeles today and tomorrow before the Sunday show. Still, it’s only a 6.5 hour flight between the two cities, so there’s plenty of time for Lawrence to switch coasts should she feel inclined to attend the ceremony or any of the Academy Award after parties.
