After Nicki Minaj released her newest song, “Bust Down Barbiana,” fans of the rapper began to speculate that the lyrics include a diss of friend and frequent collaborator, Ariana Grande. In the song, which is a freestyle cover of the viral rap hit “Thotiana” by Blueface, Minaj calls out Grande and raps, “Killing everybody beat, thank u, next Ariana” leading people to think she has issues with the 25-year-old songstress.
The “7 Rings” singer was quick to debunk the rumors and took to Twitter to clarify that no, they are not feuding with each other. “There will never be anything but love between us ever,” the songstress told a speculating fan. “She’s been there for me (in real life) every time I’ve needed somebody & i’ll always be there for her. We love each other. Bet.”
Minaj saw Grande’s tweet and replied, explaining that there was no bad blood between them and that she will always love and support Grande. In her own tweet she told Grande, “Not more than you’ve been there for me behind the scenes. Love you. For life.”
Minaj and Grande have a long-standing friendship with each other and have collaborated on five songs together. The last time the pop stars did a song was for Grande’s Sweetener track, “the light is coming.” thank u, next, Grande’s newest album, is set to arrive on Friday, so it may be possible that Minaj features on a track. In the meantime, let’s appreciate this friendship and hope it spawns more bops in the future.
