Meghan Markle Reportedly Had a Fake Instagram Account

Meghan Markle’s entire world was turned upside down when she got engaged to Prince Harry. As part of becoming a future royal, Meghan deleted her personal Instagram account (the agony). But that doesn’t mean she kept herself completely out of the #loop.

The Sun is reporting that the Duchess of Sussex actually had a fake Instagram account at one point to help her keep up with all of her old friends from the non-royal world. A source allegedly close to Meghan told the outlet that, “She was working on all her projects in private, but couldn’t say anything publicly as her patronages hadn’t been announced…Since she shut down her public Instagram, she’d had a fake account to follow her friends.”

“There was some really vile stuff written by social media trolls and obviously she also saw the headlines about her,” the source continued. “It really got to her and, in the end, she had to shut down that account just before Christmas, too, to protect her mental health. She felt very isolated and alone.”
