As much as the world wanted Lana Condor and Noah Centineo to date immediately after the release of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, the two resisted…in part because way before the public started shipping them, days before they even started filming, they created their own contract to keep things platonic. Condor explained to Jimmy Fallon that there was something between them—something they agreed not to act on.
“I did [set early boundaries with Noah,]” Condor explained. “We had just come back from a hot yoga class and went to his apartment, and we ordered pizza, and it’s kind of like, ooh, hot yoga, pizza, what’s happening? It was right before we shot the movie, just getting to know each other. And I felt something. And then so we went like this, and I looked at him and I went, ‘Noah, it’s not going to happen between us.’ Yeah, because I felt, for the show to do well, we had to be best-friend professionals. And so I was like, ‘it’s just not going to happen.’ And he was like, ‘Yeah, it’s not going to happen.’ And I was like, ‘Great!’ So we kind of did what we did in To All the Boys the movie, we kind of made a contract and set boundaries and then I’m so happy that we did that because the movie turned out great and now we’re doing a sequel. So I have to work with him again so imagine!”
“So you still might have that spark?” Fallon asked on behalf of everyone.
“We still have the spark, yeah, absolutely,” Condor admitted matter-of-factly. “We were just on the phone the other day, just talking about the sequel. Okaaay!”
“Just saying, you guys were on the phone and—the books, there’s three of them? Is that correct?” Fallon furthered.
“Yeah,” Condor confirmed.
“So if the sequel does well, you do the third one.”
“That would be amazing,” she said.
“And then after the third one, you really fall in love,” Fallon suggested. Condor just laughed that off, though she didn’t have the heart to completely shoot it down.
Condor actually has a longtime boyfriend, Anthony De La Torre, who she just attended a bunch of Golden Globes weekend events with. Condor spoke about the two’s private romantic relationship in October, telling Rollacoaster magazine that she and De La Torre leave each other love letters. “I am a hopeless romantic,” she said. “I still write love letters now and so does my boyfriend. He even draws pictures on the front. I would say he’s more romantic than I am!”
