Balmy textures are everywhere right now – no surprise as we’re still mid-winter and its the perfect texture for combating dry lips while offering some protection at the same time. Givenchy Le Rose Perfecto Balm* has new, brighter shades for a bit of cold weather glam.

Although they don’t claim it in the info I have, I swear that these go darker on the lips the longer you wear them. The colour seems to warm up so it ends up quite bright in the end.
It’s a very, very nice formula – balmy, a tiny whisper of mint that disappears in no time, and plenty of hyaluronic spheres to ensure that lips look smoother.

I wore Warming Red (303) as a tester and while it’s quite sheer out of the bullet, it does look a deeper shade with the darker colour of your own lip showing through. In fact, they all do apart from clear, obviously. There are 8 shades (including clear which has a tiny smattering of iridescence) and I’m sort of thinking of them as weekend lip products – just a dash of colour to wear with a tinted moisturiser.

Shades are 303 Warming Red, 304 Cosmic Plum, 301 Soothing Red and 202 Fearless Pink. So, I’ll let you into a secret fail that I do more often than I can say – when I’m doing a lot of photos I usually take the product pictures first, then the swatches and then test before writing about them. For this, I did everything up to the point of taking pictures of the swatches (the Balms were about the third lot of products that I’d photographed and swatched) – I wiped them off before I actually snapped them. So when I came to sit down to write about it, I had no swatch picture, but I did have them carefully written down in order to keep track. So, the light looks cooler in the swatch picture than the others because they were done on a different day with completely different lighting. Uh. Anyway, they’re £28 HERE.*** Non Affiliate HERE.
