Although I was disappointed with Ciate’s last palettes, I feel the opposite about the new Wonderwands. At £16 each they’re easily on a par with more luxury priced versions and yay – they’re satin and not matte. I’m seeing quite a lot of new launches for satins so I’m wondering if the matte revolution is coming to an end.
Ciate Wonderwand Lipsticks
There are 8 shades, roughly split into lighter and deeper shades – you can see the one I couldn’t resist trying on before photographing (that doesn’t happen very often but Rocket was just asking to be worn immediately). So the lighter shades are: Dreamer, Exposed, Rocket and Wanderlust.

The deeper shades are: Ruby, Muse, Royal and Sunday. They actually feel quite balmy on the lip and give an immediate colour saturation that on me so far has lasted impressively well.

In the swatch, on my rather goose-bumpy arm because – cold kitchen! – are: Dreamer, Exposed, Wanderlust, Rocket, Ruby, Sunday, Royal and Muse. I like the detail of the little ribbon on the top of each one – that works really well as a symbol for Ciate and I have the feeling there’s a really strong creative mind (I nearly said team there, but chances are it’s just one person) behind this brand that just gets better and better. If you remember, they started off strong on nails and weak on make-up and have completely upped their game (with a few duds but not many) to become a credible player in a very crowded market.
