I have to admit that I watch The Devil Wears Prada at least once a year (if not more—who am I kidding?). Every time I watch the film, it brings me back to the days before my fashion career when all I could do was dream of one day breaking into the fashion industry myself. There’s no doubting the hard path Andy Sachs had at Runway Magazine under the infamous Miranda Priestly, but that wasn’t enough to discourage me from one day being an editor myself.
As a fashion editor hopeful, I studied all of the outfits from the show. The bad and the good and the great. As Andy transitioned her style, it provided some great fashion takeaways—especially when it comes to winter style in New York City. Ahead, I’m breaking down the five pillars of winter style from The Devil Wears Prada that still hold up today.
