Before they departed for the Queen’s Norfolk estate for Christmas (where they’ll be staying at Sandringham), Meghan Markle and Prince Harry snuck in one last engagement for the year. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stopped at the Hubb Community Kitchen for a private, holiday visit. Adele, who’s been a big supporter of those affected by the Grenfell Tower Fire, also stopped by the same day.
Only one photo from the event has surfaced on Instagram: a shot of Adele with one of the kitchen’s chefs and founders, Munira Mahmoud. Mahmoud revealed that with Adele, at least, they got to take selfies. Photos of Harry and Meghan there have not come out yet, and it’s unclear whether their visit overlapped with Adele’s or came earlier or later.
Meghan, of course, has made many visits to the kitchen this year as she and the women worked together to create Together: Our Community Cookbook. In her speech during the launch of the cookbook, Meghan talked about the close relationships she fostered with the women there.
“Working on this project for the past nine months has been a tremendous labor of love,” she started. “I had just recently moved to London, and I felt so immediately embraced by the women in the kitchen: Their warmth, their kindness, and also to be able to be in this city and to see in this one small room how multicultural it was. On a personal level, I felt so proud to live in a city that can have so much diversity. It’s 12 countries represented in this one group of women! It’s pretty outstanding.”
Harry and Meghan are now in Norfolk, beginning Christmas festivities with the Queen who arrived there yesterday. They will next been seen out during Christmas morning service.
