On Christmas, we celebrate the birth of Jesus. On December 26, we celebrate the birth of Jared Leto. Wearing nothing but his birthday suit (apparently) and a Santa hat, the 30 Seconds to Mars frontman posted a photo to his Instagram in honor of the holidays:
The photos both show his “Provehito in altum” tattoo, a phrase 30 Seconds to Mars fans will be familiar with, since it appears in the band’s logo. Leto told Entertainment Weekly in 2008 that it means “Launch forth into the deep.”
The following day, Leto thanked his fans for their birthday wishes and posted another photo in what seemed like the same celebratory outfit:
But a closer look reveals that Leto changed both elements of his outfit. First, there’s his necklace, which went from a thin black band to a gold chain with an animal head pendant. He also appeared to have switched up the Santa hat; in the second photo, he’s wearing one that reads “Merry Christmas” in a jaunty red script. True, it’s possible that it’s the same Santa hat—but I just prefer to believe that the king of festive dressing has multiples of his Christmas headwear. Don’t you?
Leto’s previous post was a short video promoting the summer-camp style music festival Camp Mars, and it also had a holiday twist—a Christmas bunny filter:
Guess I won’t be the only one sad to see that Christmas tree come down!
