Some good news for those Peter Kavinsky and Lara Jean shippers: you can keep running your fan accounts, because Netflix just confirmed that everyones favorite rom-com couple will reunite for the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before sequel. Lana Condor, who plays doe-eyed Lara Jean Covey in the film, announced the good news on her social media.
In a mini clip titled “Lana’s Christmas List,” Lana hopped on Facetime with her TATBILB co-star Noah Centineo to draft up a new “contract.” After plugging fellow Netflix rom-com A Christmas Prince, Lana teased that she has a secret to tell fans. “I am so excited it is officially official,” Lana said in the clip. Centineo chimed in, yelling, “Bring on the sequel.”
Netflix also followed up with its own announcement using a handwritten note similar to Lara Jean’s love letters that read:
“I miss you. I know it’s only been a few months and I swear I wasn’t trying to avoid you; I just didn’t know how to answer your question without lying to you. The truth isn’t always simple or straightforward—and as we know all too well, dating contracts have a way of quickly getting complicated. But, the letters are out…it’s true. A To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before sequel is coming to Netflix. And yes, you can seamlessly continue to run your #Covinsky fan accounts because your dreamy stars Lana Condor and Noah Centineo are in on it too.”
The streaming service concluded the note by promising the sequel “will be worth the wait.”
But if you paid close attention to the end To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, you’ll know that the follow-up, P.S I Still Love You, could spell trouble for Lara and Peter. In the end credits, Lara Jean’s love-letter recipient, John Ambrose McClaren (from Model UN) shows up at her front door with a bouquet of flowers and a wide-grin plastered on his face. Jenny Han, author of the TATBILB book, previously revealed she always had plans to explore the new character in the sequel.
“There’s so many things in the second book that I would love to see in a sequel,” she told Indiewire. “The whole reason why I wrote a second book was for the character of John Ambrose McClaren, who is a fan favorite, and he’s a favorite of mine too. I would love to see that explored, and also there’s a character called Stormy that I love to write. I would love to see that.”
