In honor of his 70th birthday, Prince Charles is on the cover of Sunday Times Magazine holding six-month-old Prince Louis. And along with the cover—shot by British royal photographer Chris Jackson—is a touching interview where Prince Charles opened up about his relationship with his three grandchildren: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

As part of the birthday commemorations, Clarence House released new portraits (also shot by Jackson) of Prince Charles with his family, and the shoot’s photographer disclosed the details of how the perfect shot finally came together (thanks to Prince Charles).

“He is a very hands-on grandfather. He was holding hands with George and Charlotte, and bouncing Louis up and down for a long time,” Jackson explained for his Sunday Times interview. “George was very happy on the prince’s knee. They have a great relationship that’s a little more established, as George is a bit older.”

Prince Charles is also reportedly looking forward to becoming a grandfather to a new family member, with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s child on the way. The Duchess of Sussex is due sometime in the spring of 2019, and the royal boy or girl will be Prince Charles’ fourth grandchild.
