Despite his new marriage to longtime girlfriend Hailey Baldwin, Justin Bieber doesn’t feel 100 percent complete. Outlets have reported that the newlywed has been “missing feelings of happiness” and experiencing a certain emptiness lately, and he just took to Instagram to begin to explain why.
On Thanksgiving Day, Bieber posted a lengthy message about how grateful he was to be spending his first Thanksgiving as a married man, but he also touched on those reports that he’s going through a challenging time, mentally.

“Happy late thanksgiving to everyone. First thanksgiving as a married man, first time hosting thanksgiving. First time both sides of the family has come together,” he wrote alongside a photo of a wooded area (presumably where he was spending the holiday). “Relationships are hard and love isn’t always easy but thank you Jesus for showing me how! Every day is a learning process, trying to be more like him, patient, kind, selfless, boy I got a long way! But gods grace is sufficient!”
Bieber’s statement about relationships being hard likely refers to the recent hospitalization of ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez. Gomez admitted herself to a medical facility to be treated for anxiety and depression in October, and it caused problems for Bieber and Baldwin at the start of their marriage. Bieber reportedly felt “guilty” and “conflicted” over Gomez’s mental health struggles, and wondered if he had made a mistake in the timing of his marriage to Baldwin.
