Every Celebrity in Ariana Grande’s ‘Mean Girls’ Teaser Trailer for ‘Thank U, Next’ Music Video

Confirmation of just how good Ariana Grande’s upcoming, rom-com homage music video “Thank U, Next” emerged last night with the release of a teaser trailer. Grande didn’t appear in the 46-second clip, but a bunch of other celebrities did, including some members of the original Mean Girls cast. Grande parodied the film’s segment of characters describing Queen Bee Regina George, but replacing Regina with descriptions of her—and poking fun at her breaking off an engagement, saying “honest to god, knock me out,” among other things.

Here, a breakdown of who’s who and their relationship to Grande.

Colleen Ballinger

One of Grande’s longtime close friends and a 32-year-old comedian, actress, and YouTuber famous for her channel Miranda Sings. Ballinger is expecting her first child with her fiancé Erik Stocklin. Photos of her in the Bring It On segment of Grande’s video were previously teased.

Grande got Mean Girls‘ original Aaron Samuels, now 37 years old, to reprise his role for the film. He is clearly ageless. Bennett and Grande teased his involvement in the project last week.

Grande also got Mean Girls‘ original Bethany Byrd—the girl who in the original film said of Regina George “one time, she punched me in the face. It was awesome”—to make an appearance. She didn’t say the punch me line again though; that distinction went to Gabi DeMartino.

A YouTuber who made headlines for her Ariana Grande impersonation in July. Grande joked she didn’t like it to DeMartino on Twitter, who took that seriously. Grande reassured her that she was just kidding and that she thought DeMartino was “cute” mimicking her. Given that history, it’s fitting for DeMartino to appear in Grande’s video as a student worshipping her version of Regina George.

Bonus: The Plastics

While they don’t appear in the teaser for the video, Grande has already teased who the Cady, Karen, and Gretchen are of her Plastics squad.

Elizabeth Gillies

Gillies plays Cady. Gillies is a 25-year-old actress currently on Dynasty. But she and Grande go way back to when they were both on Nickeoldeon’s Victorious together (she was Jade West) and the later spin-off teen series starring Grande, Sam and Cat.

Alexa Luria

Luria plays Karen. The 24-year-old has been friends with Grande since they were kids. Luria is also a food blogger with her own Instagram @girlwithagourmetpalate.

Courtney Chipolone

Chipolone plays Gretchen. Chipolone is another one of Grande’s best friends. The two have matching tattoos of H2GKMO, aka “honest to God, knock me out,” a favorite expression of Grande’s.
