Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson put an end to their whirlwind romance and engagement just this weekend. While neither Grande nor Davidson have commented on or confirmed their split yet, plenty of “sources” close to the couple have talked about it. Here’s a quick roundup of the rumors surrounding their split:

People close to Grande knew it was coming, People is reporting. Grande and Davidson both started dating each other after getting out of longterm relationships; they were literally ring-shopping the night after their first date. “It was way too much too soon,” a source close to Grande told the outlet. “It’s not shocking to anyone.” People is calling it a full-fledge split…
…but Us Weekly is saying while the engagement is off, the romantic relationship isn’t completely. “It happened this weekend,” a source told the outlet of the two’s decision to call off their engagement. “They realized it happened too quick and too early. The wedding is off, but they’re working things out. They’re not officially done yet.”
The Blast reports that Grande ultimately made the decision because she’s been through a lot in the last few months (with her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller just passing away last month). Grande needs time to “work on herself,” sources reportedly said.
TMZ, which initially broke the news, added in a follow-up report that Miller’s death was the “tipping point” that led to Grande and Davidson’s split. Grande did not blame herself for it as she did everything she could to get Miller sober when they were dating, TMZ’s sources said. But it was incredibly hard for her and led her to realize she “couldn’t be fully invested in her relationship with Pete,” and that they were moving too fast, the outlet reported.
TMZ also reported that Grande and Davidson looked very much together on Saturday night, where they were backstage at SNL. Grande was at the show to support Davidson as usual, and witnesses there told TMZ that they were kissing and holding each other. TMZ points to it as a sign that the breakup happened Sunday. But, as Us Weekly reported, it could also mean the two still are dating, just not engaged anymore. When they comment, we’ll know more, but as of now, Davidson has no social media, and Grande hasn’t posted anything on her accounts.
