Suqqu 2018 Interstellar Collection

I can’t fudge the fact that this is Suqqu’s UK Christmas collection – I know, I know, it’s so early but it’s launching on Thursday (Selfridges and Harrods) so we might as well have a quick peek. I love the galactic references for the palettes in particular – once you realise how each one connects to the inspiration it makes sense. I will say ahead that I haven’t swatched the palettes as I’m trying to be more conscientious about second-lifing products but if anyone has a burning need for a particular palette to be swatched, I’m happy to do it.

This palette is Gekouka and is inspired by the moon – think rocks, meteorites and metals. The light and dark silvers are very twinkly, while the orange is more of a sheen and the sooty black is matte.

This palette is Hikariori and the inspiration is cosmic dust and stellar clouds that can be strikingly different colours. I need to study the stars more I think! In this combination, the gold and the blue are the sparklers (the blue shifts all different colour twinkles – I can see blue, pink and silver) while the light brown shade is a sheen and the orange has more of a matte aspect although I wouldn’t say it is a fully flat matte.

This is the palette that I most naturally veer to and it’s called Hanaryuusei. The inspiration is earth as maybe you might guess with the nature shades (Suqqu are big on nature shades). The sparkle comes from the light golden brown shade and the warm, orangey brown. The bright orange is matte and the aubergine shade has some sheen to it.

This gradient design blush has become signature Suqqu – they’re just so pretty and it doesn’t seem to matter what colours Suqqu puts in their cheek colours, as soon as a gradiant or ombre comes into play, it looks amazing. The brighter shade is Akeboshi and the lighter champagne based blush is Yuuboshi.

I love these matte lip crayons – although they look juicy and sheeny, once on the lip they’re properly matte and not too overpowering on colour. It’s quite a rare thing to get a mild matte shade – mostly, part of being matte means being pigment loaded and these aren’t particularly so. I can’t help, because I don’t like mattes, adding over some balm so that they look sheeny.

I have swatched these and although they look shiny, it’s just the sun on them. From bottom to top, it’s Seisai, Sorabeni and Kouzu. In terms of pricing, the palettes are £46, the blush, £32 and the Lip Crayons, £24.
