Justin Bieber went to his usual Wednesday night LA church service alone and appeared to be very distraught when leaving. Paparazzi photographed him being comforted by friends on his way to his car.

While it’s not clear what the exact cause was—only Bieber knows that for sure—some have speculated it may be due to news of his ex Selena Gomez’s hospitalization. TMZ, which broke the news, published its report at 5:59 p.m. Bieber’s church service starts at 8 p.m. there. Bieber may have found out before, during, or just as service ended there…or maybe he was upset about something completely different.
Bieber and Gomez, who dated last fall, would often go to that Wednesday night church service together. Bieber still attends and went last week with Hailey Baldwin, his new wife.
