Immediately after Cardi B’s New York Fashion Week fight with Nicki Minaj, Cardi explained on her Instagram what provoked her: Minaj allegedly liking a comment that disparaged Cardi B’s parenting skills. That was the final straw for Cardi, who threw her shoe at Minaj during Harper’s Bazaar ICONS party. Now, Cardi is explaining why she chose a fashion week party to instigate her feud with Minaj. But it was more opportunity than anything else, Cardi told W in its profile of her. “For a while now she’s been taking a lot of shots at me,” she started. “I spoke to her twice before, and we came to an understanding. But she kept it going.”
Minaj denied she ever liked or made any remark about Cardi’s parenting skills. But Cardi doubled down that Minaj liking and unliking that a tweet criticizing her mothering was it for her. “I was going to make millions off my Bruno Mars tour, and I sacrificed that to stay with my daughter,” Cardi said. “I love my daughter. I’m a good-ass fucking mom. So for somebody that don’t have a child to like that comment? So many people want to say that party wasn’t the time or the place, but I’m not going to catch another artist in the grocery store or down the block.”
