Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn, a couple madly in love with privacy, have made it over a year without talking about each other in an interview. This may be because Swift hasn’t really done any, but Alwyn now has. British Vogue got Alwyn to talk about Swift for a fleeting second in its new interview with him, per People. He offered these few words and no more than that.

“I’m aware people want to know about that side of things,” Alwyn said, acknowledging the public’s interest in him and Swift. “I think we have been successfully very private and that has now sunk in for people…but I really prefer to talk about work.”
Alwyn is an actor, appearing in The Favourite with Emma Stone, which he just promoted with her at the Venice Film Festival. Swift, meanwhile, is touring in promotion of her Reputation album. She’ll be filming the movie adaptation of Cats later this year.
