Bourjois Rouge Fabuleux

I have to say that these well named lipsticks from Bourjois are very, very similar in texture to the new Shiseido VisionAiry Gel lipsticks that I raved about a couple of weeks ago. They’re so unbelievably silky on the lip and deliver the perfect, light matte finish with the feel of a satiny gel balm. Pretty damn excellent and completely fabuleux.

There are 12 shades – six in the nude spectrum and six more dramatic colours but the thing you’ll notice more than anything is the way they lay down colour as soon as they touch your lips. The pigment is high without being intense, but it’s a still a one-swipe-needed kinda lippie. The last is decent without being amazing which seems to be to be an acceptable pay-back for feeling so delicious on the lips. I can’t believe they’re £8.49 (actually, on offer at ASOS for £6 HERE).

Because of the gel texture, they don’t swatch amazingly well but I can assure you that on the lip it’s a whole other thing – with the dark lip skin behind the shade it’s a smooth finish. So, from bottom to top: Abracadabrabeige, Bohemian Raspberry, A L’Eau de Rose, Once Upon A Pink, Cindered-lla and Cranberry Tales.

From bottom to top: Peanut Better, Jolie Mauve, Sleepink Beauty, Scarlet It Be, Beauty And The Red and Plum Plum Pidou.

I heard a rumour that Bourjois might be on its last legs – I hope that’s not the case but it certainly doesn’t get the love it used to since it was bought by Coty. What an absolute pity if they did not tend to this brand enough.
