The 5 Wildest Moments From Omarosa’s ‘Meet the Press’ Interview

Before the release of her book Unhinged, former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press” in an interview with Chuck Todd and made some shocking confessions and alleged confirmations about President Donald Trump.

Manigault covers everything from a long-rumored tape of the President allegedly using the n-word during his The Apprentice days, to her own “complicit” role in his administration and her December firing last year.

Here, a breakdown of the wildest moments during Omarosa’s telling interview.

1. Omarosa claims to have finally heard the tape of Donald Trump using the n-word.

Rumors of Trump using the racial slur have floated around since his campaign days. In her new book, Manigault details her desperation to know the truth. “I would look like the biggest imbecile alive for supporting a man who used that word,” she writes. “And if he’d used it about me, the betrayal would be devastating.”

Omarosa now claims that her fears have been proven. On Sunday, Manigault confirmed that after the publication of her book, she has personally heard the tape of Trump using the n-word. She confesses she had “heard for two years that it existed and once I heard it for myself, it was confirmed, what I feared the most: That Donald Trump is a con and has been masquerading as someone who is actually open to engaging with diverse communities.” Trump’s use of the slur leads her to only one conclusion. “When he talks that way, the way he did on this tape, it confirmed that he is truly a racist.”

2. Trump has nicknames for everyone in his circle.

Manigault denied ever hearing Trump say the n-word in her presence or in reference to her. But she did say it was possible he’s used it without her knowledge. “Donald Trump talks about everyone behind their backs. You leave the room, Chuck, and he probably has a nickname for you,” she said. “There’s a nickname for everyone in his administration and his circles.”

3. She admits to being “complicit” with White House in deceiving the American people.

Reflecting on her time as director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison, Omarosa regrets the role she played in deceiving Americans, especially within the black community. “It is hindsight. But I will say this to you, I was complicit with this White House deceiving this nation,” she acknowledges. “They continue to deceive this nation by how mentally declined he is. How difficult it is for him to process complex information. How he is not engaged in some of the most important decisions that impacts our country. I was complicit, and for that I regret.”

4. Last year, Omarosa secretly recorded her firing by White House Chief of Staff John Kelly.

In the recording aired during the interview, Kelly is heard saying, “I think it’s important to understand that if we make this a friendly departure, we can all be, you know, you can look at your time here at the White House as a year of service to the nation, and then you can go on without any difficulty in the future relative to your reputation.”

Omarosa explains that she recorded the conversation to protect herself and provide proof in her defense. “It is very obvious a threat. He goes on to say that things can get ugly for you,” she told Todd. “The chief of staff of the United States, under direction of the president of the United States, threatening me on damage to my reputation. And things getting ugly for me, and damage to my reputation, that is downright criminal. And if I didn’t have these recordings, no one in America would believe me. So I protected myself and now I am glad I did.”

5. Manigault declined to join Trump’s re-election campaign after being asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement.

It’s clear that Omarosa no longer trusts this administration, but she suspects that other former employees have signed their credibility away, “which is why Sean Spicer was describing Donald Trump as a unicorn jumping over rainbows,” she explained. “[White House Press Secretary] Sarah Huckabee stands in front of the country and lies every single day, you have to have your own back because otherwise you’ll look back and you’ll see 17 knives in your back.”

On Saturday, TMZ talked to Omarosa about Trump’s feud with NBA star LeBron James and she accused the President of heightening tension in America. “He wants to start a race war,” Omarosa told the cameraman. “He’s succeeding.”
