Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn Hold Hands on Fancy Date in London

Taylor Swift and her quiet British boyfriend Joe Alwyn gave the paparazzi a rare glimpse of their so happy, so private relationship on Wednesday night, when they were photographed holding hands as they left dinner at Hawksmoor steak restaurant in London’s Covent Garden. Swift wore an emerald green dress for the occasion and her “J” necklace, just to hammer it in that yes, they are still very much together and in love! And not engaged yet in this summer of speedy engagements, as her left ring finger was bare.

Per the photo agency, Swift and Alwyn had two and half hours of “quality alone time in a sectioned-off area” of Hawksmoor. Their orders were two filet steaks, with a side of macaroni and cheese and creamed spinach, plus wine and panna cotta for dessert. Apparently, Swift went unnoticed (she’s a pro at that) and restaurant goers had no clue who she was. Maybe royalty? They were asking photographers about her, presumably more because of their presence than hers.

Swift had a five-day break from her tour; she plays her next show tomorrow in Nashville. The photo is her way of showing how she spent it, far away from New York City and the MTV VMAs, in London with her boyfriend. This is the second time they’ve been photographed on a date in London; they were last seen leaving a pub in North London at the end of May.

Swift and Alwyn have been together for over a year, but both haven’t spoken publicly about their relationship, that is, if you don’t count the many love songs about Alwyn on Swift’s album, Reputation. A source told Us Weekly in July that the couple “vowed to keep their relationship to themselves. They’ve done everything they can to keep it that way.” So far, so good—save the five or so dates that have been photographed.
