Your dreams of seeing Meghan Markle and Prince Harry all dressed up on the Los Angeles red carpet for the Emmys next month have been quietly dashed. The Sun reports that although Meghan was invited to go to the September award show with her Suits cast, the Duchess of Sussex just told show organizers thanks but no thanks. Multiple Los Angeles-based sources told The Sun that Meghan “politely turned down” the invite by NBC TV bosses. It was her way of drawing “a line in the sand” between her acting past and royal present and future.

“Show executives and NBC had offered Harry and her an invitation to celebrate with the biggest stars around, meet her showbiz friends and even present an honor,” one source detailed, but none of that was enough to woo Meghan.
Of course, Meghan’s decision may be partly influenced by the amount of security that having her and Prince Harry at the ceremony would require. Earlier this year, the couple were reportedly almost Oscar presenters. They had wanted to go, but ultimately didn’t attend because security and logistics for their safe arrival couldn’t be worked out.
