Timeline of Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin’s Relationship

They meet during a deeply uncomfortable, pre-pubescent encounter: At the ripe age of 14, Baldwin’s budding teenage angst reared its head in purest form when her father, Steve Baldwin, introduced her to JB backstage at The Today Show. Note Bieber’s subtle hair flip just before his hand meets Baldwin’s, then watch sparks *not* fly as she quickly re-crosses her arms.

HB and JB are officially in the same social circle: Throughout 2014, Justin Bieber is photographed hanging out with the Jenner family. Then, in August 2014, Kylie Jenner posts an Instagram snuggling up with Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and Hailey Baldwin (right). The post featuring Baldwin came just four months after Selena Gomez unfollowed Kendall and Kylie Jenner on Instagram (and deleted all of her photos featuring the two). As of now, Baldwin and Bieber are officially in the same social circle, and one that Selena Gomez has disassociated herself with.

Bieber *insists* he and Hailey Baldwin aren’t dating: Following Hailey’s suit, Bieber posts a selfie with Baldwin on Instagram to clarify his single status (almost in a way that seems to…overcompensate?).

Ringing in the new year together: Okay fine, they’re still not officially together as of 2015, but Hailey Baldwin and the Biebs were in suspiciously close proximity when the clock struck midnight on NYE 2015.

They get cozy at a Clippers game: Biebs and Baldwin still appear to be just BFF’s as of January 2015, but let’s just say they’re…close. The two are cheek-to-cheek in a group photo taken at a Clippers game in Los Angeles, which was posted to Kendall Jenner’s Instagram.

Matching tattoos: In honor of a couple from their church whose daughter, Georgia, suffers from Lissencephaly, JB and HB both got the letter “G” tattooed. JB’s is on his upper forearm, while Hailey Baldwin got the ink behind her ear (as did Selena Gomez).

Justin Bieber is filmed serenading Selena Gomez in a bar: Just two months after Selena Gomez opened up about ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber in her ELLE interview, the two are filmed taking a stroll together in Los Angeles, followed by Justin Bieber singing “Sorry” to Gomez, which he’d admitted was about her in an interview with Ellen Degeneres earlier that month.

Hailey Baldwin posts to Instagram wearing Justin Bieber’s sweatpants: Just one month after Jelena seemed to be on the verge of a romantic reunion, Baldwin posted a photo on Instagram wearing a pair of Justin Bieber’s drop-crotch sweatpants. In comments that have since been deleted, Bieber commented on the photo saying “Gimme back my sweats dick,” to which Baldwin replied “No sorry they look better on me,” Hollywood Life reports.

They go on a tropical vacation together, where they ring in the new year (again): As their countless interviews and social media posts throughout the month of December so astutely pointed out, JB and HB are friends and only friends at this point. Except that they’re not. Bieber posted a number of photos to Instagram detailing their Anguilla getaway, including this video of them engaging in so-obviously-not-friends behavior. The pair vacationed together (with Bieber’s family) until at least January 1, when both parties posted photos with each other to their Instagram accounts, wishing followers a happy new year.

They (finally) confirm their relationship: Riding the high from their tropical getaway, Justin Bieber *officially* confirmed what everyone knew on January 3, 2016 when he posted this Instagram photo of he and Baldwin kissing.

Okay…maybe, probably dating again: After being spotted getting cuddly at a church conference, Hailey Baldwin and and Justin Bieber are filmed at Liv nightclub in Miami looking very, extremely back together.

Looking happy in NYC: After a few cozy encounters in Miami, JB and HB put on a show for the paparazzi in NYC.

Annnnnnd we have a couple: After (publicly) rekindling their friendship in May, fans photograph Baldwin and Bieber kissing in Brooklyn, NY.

Grand Makeout Tour of the United States™: Jailey is currently alive and well—and making out all over the United States of America. The two have been spotted locking lips in Washington State, all over New York City, and most recently in the Hamptons, where they experienced some car trouble on the road. Ah, happily ever after, I’m sure.
