Taylor Swift Reacts to Stage Malfunction at Reputation Philadelphia Concert, Fan Engagement

Taylor Swift had pretty newsy weekend at her Reputation concerts in Philadelphia Friday and Saturday night. The singer coped with a stage malfunction in the middle of her performing (à la Beyoncé), third-wheeled an engagement during a fan meet and greet, and ultimately made it back to New York City Sunday to take back her 2014/15 street style star status for a day.

The stage malfunction happened during her Saturday night performance at Philly’s Lincoln Financial Field. Swift was singing “Delicate” when she got trapped on the levitating basket stage mid-song. “I’m pretty sure I’m stuck up here,” she told the crowd toward the end of the song. “It’s a nice view though.”

Once the song ended, she explained what was happening, adding in some banter: “I feel like it’s very important to be honest with friends,” she started. “So what you just saw was me going straight up and down in this sparkly basket. It’s supposed to take me to the other side of the stadium. So I’m just going to figure out what to do next. I’m somehow going to figure out how to get over there. Will that be okay? So what happens now is basically like, I’m just chilling, waiting to figure out what happens next. I might just walk. Okay, so this is such a spoiler alert, but I have another flying thing across there that works apparently or wait, so there’s people talking in my ear. This is all so boring for you, I’m so sorry. And there’s no way for me to just talk to them so this is all just going to play out in front of you. Is there a way for me to walk or does it have to be flying?…Nobody’s saying anything.”

That wait ultimately led Swift to get out of the basket, walk, and sing “Our Song” and “Wildest Dreams” a cappella while things were being sorted out. Concert-goers captured it all:

The fan proposal, meanwhile, happened during a meet and greet on July 11 in Maryland. Swift shared it on her own Instagram Saturday to her 110 million followers. “They walk into the meet and greet, and he says ‘We met 5 years ago at the Red Tour’ and then…..” she wrote with a string of cat heart-eyed emojis and a #thirdwheel hashtag. Swift’s shocked face is on full show in the series of images:

But after a wild two days in Philly, Swift returned to Manhattan and made her first New York City solo street style pap stroll of the year. Swift went for ’70s vibes in a Faith Connexion dress, Elie Saab sunglasses, a Stella McCartney bag, and Jimmy Choo knee-high boots. It’s like nothing ever changed:
