Beautiful Boy Movie – Steve Carell and Timothée Chalamet Star in Film Based Off David and Nic Sheff Memoirs

Grab the tissues—this one’s going to be a tearjerker!

The first trailer for Steve Carell and Timothée Chalamet’s upcoming father-son film has been released, and if the preview is any indication, we’re going to need a lot (a lot) of tissues.

Beautiful Boy chronicles the lives of David Sheff (Carell) and Nic Sheff (Chalamet), and the ups and downs they faced throughout young Nic’s battle with drug addiction. Based off both of the Sheff men’s memoirs, the story stands to tell an emotional tale around struggle, recovery and the power of family.

According to the Huffington Post, the movie is already turning heads for awards season. Both Carell and Chamalet are no strangers to the accolades, as both have been nominated for “Best Actor” at the Oscars in years past.

Although 22-year-old Chalamet has already made a name for himself in Hollywood due to his role in 2018’s hit, Call Me by Your Name, he’s still somewhat starstruck by his opportunity to learn from The Office alum.

“I’ve been working with Steve Carell and just feel like the luckiest kid in the world,” he told Interview magazine last June. “I love being able to see how people sink into the material—like watching you work your way through scenes, trying new things, always keeping it fresh.”

He also described his on-screen dad as “a real great, loving family guy.”

The Amazon Studios-produced film hits theaters on October 12, but both David’s book of the same name and Nic’s written account, titled Tweak, are available on Amazon to hold you over until then.
