Aromatica Orange Cleansing Sherbet

If you’ve been bitten by the ‘clean’ beauty bug, Korean brand, Aromatica, is one to look out for. I’m not sure quite where I stand on the whole ‘clean’ thing because I don’t think we have a though enough definition for it. I mean, we could all just rub organic bananas and avocados on our skin if we truly wanted clean, and don’t get me started on the use of the word ‘chemicals’ – it’s one of the most misunderstood words in beauty. My interest is definitely piqued though as even clean technology has moved forward in leaps and bounds. It’s not a deal breaker for me but is starting to make more sense than flooding skin with ingredients we understand little to nothing of. Anyway, to the product in question, Orange Cleansing Sherbet.

As a cleansing balm not only is it an absolute joy on the skin, but it’s also very effective. It’s listed on the Aromatica website as having slightly acid pH (that’s something I’ve never seen before – a brand listing each product’s pH) which (as I understand it) means that even if you have oily skin, you’re okay to use this. I am not sure at all why it’s called a ‘sherbet’ – there is some talk of a granular texture and it could be because it’s such a hot day but I do not find even a hint of a granule. The scent is delicious – more sweet orange than zesty and fresh and the balm contains orange oil. It’s highly melty which is not surprising as it uses canola and babassu oils to soften and remove make up and/or the day’s grime. Interestingly, Aromatica uses hydrosol preservatives rather than traditional preservatives. Selfridges has made a smart move by bringing on a small selection of this brand (I hope there will be more) which really ticks all of the ‘clean’ boxes – the Cleansing Sherbet is £31 (expensive I know, but I think will last an age – it’s a large pot) HERE.

It’s a vegan product and the ingredient list follows: Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil(conditioner), Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate(plant-derived emulsifying agent), Polyethylene(viscosity controlling agent), Prunus Armeniaca Kernel Oil(conditioner), *Orbignya oleifera seed oil, **Limonene, Cananga Odorata Flower Oil(conditioner), Cedrus Atlantica Wood Oil(soothing agent), Tocopherol, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil(conditioner), **Benzyl benzoate, **Linalool *CERTIFIED ORGANIC **FROM NATURAL ESSENTIAL OILS
