Tiffany Trump and Dad Donald Trump “Months Without Speaking”

How are things between President Donald Trump and his other daughter, Tiffany, the one he doesn’t have a disturbing attraction to? Pretty awful and only getting worse, People reports, despite the back-to-back appearances together this week.

“They always had a strained relationship her whole life, and it got exacerbated by the presidency,” a source close to the 24-year-old Georgetown Law School student told the outlet. “It’s gotten much worse now.”

“Since the inauguration, Tiffany and her father have sometimes gone for months without speaking and she went a very long time without seeing him,” the source continued. “The last time she was at a family function with him, it was awkward for her and she didn’t feel totally welcome.”

While they had “bonding moments” during Tiffany’s rare appearances on the campaign trail, any improvement in their relationship was short-lived, the source said. And Tiffany’s “more liberal politics and views on women’s rights” have created a wedge too, People‘s source affirmed, although Tiffany voted as a Republican in the 2016 election.

Tiffany most recently liked multiple March for Our Lives Instagrams, including one where a sign said “Next Massacre Will Be the GOP in the Midterm Elections.” So she’s at least vocal in her distaste of her father’s handling of gun control:

Tiffany isn’t super close with her half siblings Ivanka, Don Jr., and Eric either, according to People, in part because of the drama that surrounded Trump leaving the older Trumps’ mother Ivana to be with Tiffany’s mom, Marla Maples, in the ’90s. Maples and Trump divorced in 1999, and Maples raised Tiffany mostly on her own in Calabasas, California (home town of the Kardashians). Trump is of course with Melania now.

Her mother told People in 2016 that she encouraged Tiffany to have a relationship with Trump. “I would bring her into New York a couple times a year and let her go see her dad in the office and let her go have dinner with him and [Donald’s wife] Melania,” Maples said.

Still, the distance and physical separation are only part of the reason Tiffany’s not part of the dynasty the way her older siblings are. It’s also partly “because he didn’t have a good relationship at the end with Marla,” a second source said. “So Tiffany didn’t get to be as intimately involved with the family dynamic as Ivanka, Eric and Donnie Jr. She doesn’t really talk about her dad a lot. She’s always been somewhat independent of the whole family.”
