Suqqu Summer 2018

The thing about Suqqu is that it sells so quickly! There’s a quiet army of fans of this brand that can literally make a palette sell out overnight. So, if you’re one of them, mark your diaries for 26th April (at Selfridges) because that’s when this collection launches.

Suqqu Summer 2018

First up, Shakuyousa (Burning Sand) with its beautiful orange graduation shade contrasting with deeper, more earthy colours. The burgundy shade is matte while the rest have some shimmer.

This palette is called Natsukasumi (Summer Mist) with a pink, lightly silver hit graduation, followed by gold, violet and purple. Both the violet and purple are matte while the gold, less pigmented, is shimmery.

Suqqu are the masters of the graduated blush! This new one is called Hoteribeni (Flushed Cheeks) that moves from a berry pink through to palest pink with a shot of coral. There’s also a rose gold nuance to it but we are talking very nuanced.

I genuinely don’t think anyone makes such juicy lipsticks as Suqqu. The formula sits in that precarious place somewhere between solid and liquid. When the heat of your skin hits, the formula melts onto your lips leaving a pigmented glossy finish. I have the same ‘mmmmm’ reaction to this as I do to tasting an extra delicious chocolate. If you’ve yet to dip into Suqqu, start with these.  The orange shade is Kouki (Summer Light) and the pink is Koihanabi (Fireworks).

I’ve swatched both palettes – it’s Shakuyousa first followed by Natsukasumi.

The blush I’ve swatched in three parts to highlight all aspects of the graduation. The lipsticks are Koihanabi first followed by Kouki. The palettes are £46 each, blush is £32 and lipsticks are £25. Oh, with the lipsticks, in the summer, you may need to keep them in the fridge.
