At Latest in Beauty, there’s nothing we enjoy more than spending our lunch hour scrolling through our favourite blogs and all of the posts, photos and feedback on our Build-Your-Own beauty box selection. It’s so exciting for us when bloggers and influencers share their must-have Latest in Beauty discoveries, therefore each month we like to chat to one of them right here on the blog. This month we caught up with Natalie from The Floral Republic.
Q
How do you make your blog stand out?
A
Ooh this is a tricky one. I don’t think my blog necessarily does stand out as I really just do it as a hobby, but I write entirely for myself and do what I want to do rather than trying to keep up with beauty trends which keeps it fun and takes the stress out! I keep my reviews honest and try to be informative as possible. Although I started my blog predominantly to write about beauty, I’ve found some of my most popular books are more lifestyle-based, such as book recommendations and food reviews.
Q
Your go to make-up look is…
A
I like to keep it nice and simple for my daily look. Radiant skin is a must so I mix Pixi Glow Booster with my base (I love L’Oréal True Match Foundation and Sleek Life Proof Foundation) then add a bit of contour with the Rimmel Sculpting Palette. I never go without blusher so I pop on some Bourjois Little Round Pot Blush then finish off with a tinted pink lip balm. Most of the colours in my makeup bag are pink!
Q
If you could curate your own beauty box, what would it contain and why?
A
As I’m always on the go and having to top up my makeup for events I usually keep a spare makeup bag in my handbag or desk drawer with some essentials in. If I made my own beauty box it would need to contain some of my holy grail products like: Stila Convertible Colour, Clinique Chubby Stuck, Beautyblender, Carmex Original Pot lip balm, Benefit They’re Real Mascara and Sleek Solstice Highlighter Palette
Q
If you could design a beauty collection, what would it be like?
A
I’m a sucker for Instagram-worthy packaging (like Paul & Joe and Benefit) and love multi-tasking products so I’d create a range of palettes with everything you need for day and night makeup looks. Everyone jokes about how much I wear pinks and florals so it would need to follow that theme!
Q
Hidden gem in your beauty stash is…
A
Coconut oil – I use it for everything; taking off my makeup, facial moisturiser, body moisturiser, hair mask – it’s so simple but I love it! I always keep a miniature tub with me when I’m travelling.
Q
What’s your signature scent?
A
I don’t wear a lot of perfume but I wear Soap & Glory’s Original Pink body spray every day, it is super sweet and one of my all time favourites.
Q
The blogger/YouTuber made me buy it:
A
Swatch stencils! These are what have been missing from my beauty blogging game for so long and I can’t believe I never knew about them before. I have always been terrible at swatching makeup (shaky hands!) so stopped bothering but I’m now so excited to be able to swatch perfect rectangle shapes of lipstick and eyeshadow… it’s the simple things!
Q
Favourite discovery from Latest in Beauty?
A
I got a miniature bottle of The Body Shop Oils of Life Facial Oil and I love it. I’m really trying to prevent ageing at the moment and this oil is so great at hydrating and revitalising my skin – I will definitely be purchasing the full size version.
Q
Smokey eye or bold lip?
A
I love treating myself to a massage or spa day, this is probably the ultimate thing for me to do on my own and can spend all day lounging by a pool reading a book. When I can’t afford that luxury I love nothing more than a pamper night at home – pop on a hair mask, run a bath with a Lush bath bomb, use a hydrating sheet mask and then smother myself in body butter afterwards.
